This building outside my office window has been forever covered in scaffolding…until now! 4 penthouses just went on the market atop 141 5th Avenue on the corner of 5th & 21st. Interested?
OK, so this is more of a dream post than anything. Each of the penthouses is one-of-a-kind — classic architecture combined with contemporary, loft like spaces.

The Cupola, which is the dome you see, has a copper dome rising 30 feet above the building. It features a curved, corner great room that looks out over 5th Avenue, a library that opens onto the terrace and a master bedroom which — get this — sits in the arc of the dome.
You can see an amazing film taking you through renderings of the interior here. Is it fair that I look at this all day?
You’ll have to contact the sales department for prices, but let’s start the guessing at…$3 million?

what city? etc
What city? Really?
and if you watch the film and look really closely you might see Geoff in his office! ;)
seriously my jaw dropped open...dream home for sure.
$3MM???
For a Penthouse on 5th Avenue??? In your dreams!
$20MM minimum for one of the 3 lesser Penthouses - closer to $26MM for the Cupola Penthouse.

looks like other units in that building are up to 12M, so yeah, pricey.
actually, it looks like that $12M unit is the one with the cupola.
There's a floorplan here.

I mean come on that is hot!
Excellent 3D work.
I love it so much!
Hey, you have a pretty nice view from your office...Lucky!
bepsf - i believe they meant apts in the building START at 3 million and only go up from there..
15m
Has there ever been a more annoying website than the site for these apartments? Jeez.
Ever since I read Elizabeth Enright's "Four-Story Mistake" when I was a little girl, I have ALWAYS wanted a cupola. Sigh.
Wow, rapunzel, thanks for that flashback! I loved those books!
I actually went to see the Cupola penthouse about 5 months ago and the space is beautiful but of course it was completely raw and a bit awkwardly segregated. It's still way too much above the market, and whoever takes it will spend half as much making it livable. There's also an unmovable beam they dont show here, a support beam that goes straight through the middle of the dome near the base of the porthole windows that holds the ancient thing together.
my mouth is watering
Definitely more than 3 million!
Kinda small and plain for my taste. =)
All I could say is "bah". I'm not impressed. I think I'll take my huge suitcase full of money and go buy myself a small state. There is only that much people you can impress by saying "see that cupola? I live there".
Plus, I can still do that anyway...doesn't need to be true :)
But the scaffolding...the scaffolding!! It was one of the best scaffolds I've ever seen. It was trompe l'oeil of the building's actual facade. I hope they didn't throw it away :(
So weird, I look at the same building from the six floor. I'm guessing you're on the 9th or 10th.
