Get ready for a little homekeeping wisdom from Threadbndr, who is doing the January Cure this month and sharing their very smart take on keeping a clean home in today's House That Cleans Itself comment thread.
My house is fairly small - about 900 sq feet, so 'all in one go' CAN work for me, but I'd rather not spend my Saturday doing nothing but cleaning. "All or nothing" cleaning is self-defeating for me, I'd rather be able to say "today's work is done. There will be more tomorrow, but TODAY is done, let's go for a walk."
In addition to the normal daily stuff (dishes, laundry, cooking and picking up), I do one weekly chore (dust, vac, deep clean the bath or kitchen, strip and remake beds) every weekday and deep clean one room (floorboards, windows, corners, purge, etc) each week. There's no 'spring clean' at my house because it's all been done in the last couple of months and I'm pretty much always company ready when I keep this up.
Excellent attitude and advice - thanks, Threadbndr !
