If you're looking for a way to take egg decorating to the next level this Easter, look no further. We found a fun alternative to dyed Easter eggs over at Lait Fraise Mag.
These painted eggs are beautiful to look at but they also hold a yummy surprise inside. Cake! The project basics are to paint your uncooked eggs; poke a small hole and blow out the yolk and egg whites; squeeze in cake batter using a small pastry bag; bake and crack open to enjoy. It would be a fun project to do with kids, especially the part where you fill the egg with batter.
For more photos of these beauties, check out Lait Fraise Mag. The instructions are in French, but the photos walk you through the process.

this seems so icky to me...knowing you put raw eggs in cake batter anyway ?? like making home made soaps and putting it in the food blender. i know we wash it with soap it just seems odd. ???
JackieD-- funny, I had the same reaction even though rationally it makes no sense -- as you point out, there are raw eggs in cake batter and you bake these things, so should be just fine!
I'm wondering what it would be like to peel the eggshells away from these -- sounds like a fun project if the eggshell comes off easily (and somewhat less fun if the eggshells have a tendency to stick to the cake!)
