Justina Blakeney of Compai
(and the Big Book of Small Cool Spaces
!) shared her summer style with us:
Sun or Shade?: Sun all the way.
The Color of Summer 2010: Coral. It looks amazing at sundown. All Time Favorite Vacation:
I lived in Florence, Italy for 7 years and during the summers we'd escape to Livorno, just an hour away. We'd eat cacciucco (Italian Fish stew), jump off the rocks into the most pristine waters, drink sparkling wine and party until the sun came up.
Most Refreshing Summer Drink:
I just had the pleasure of trying a frozen mojito for the first time. Hola! It's the most refreshing summer drink EVER. My blender will be hard at work this summer!
Planted In The Garden This Year:
Mint for my frozen mojitos is an obvious one--but I also have strawberries for daiquiris, Heirloom tomatoes for my caprese salads, lamb's lettuce, echinacea, beets, zucchini, sugar snap peas, and all of the spices you can imagine-- not bad for a little vertical garden I have in a small ally behind my jungalow!
Essential Summer Song for Party Playlist:
This summer (OK every summer!) I'm all about the totally crazy version of 'Summertime' by Billy Stewart.
Best Book in Beachbag:
I'm currently reading Sag Harbor by Colson Whitehead-- but "99 ways to cut, sew trim and tie your T shirt is a beach bag staple." :-) Oh and my beach bag was made from a vintage Pucci towel, and you can learn to make one yourself in Compai's newest tome, Refashioned Bags. ;-)
To celebrate the start of Summer, Apartment Therapy has asked some of the most stylish people we know to answer a few survey questions on how they enjoy the season.
More to come throughout June, July and August!
