You might remember Karl Zahn's beautiful woodwork from his Animal Boxes, which we featured as grown-up containers for small tech or treasure boxes for kids. Zahn has expanded his line at Areaware with his new 3D puzzle toys, called Dovetail Animals.

Brooklyn-based designer Zahn makes beautiful wood pieces that are heavily influenced by Danish industrial design. His new Animals are made from three polished, dovetail-jointed pieces that fit together perfectly to form one of five different animals. (If you have more than one, you can create your own crazy imaginary creatures by combining them.)

Made from solid beech that is treated with natural tung oil, these "puzzles" are a great value at $19.00 each. The only downside? They don't ship until March 15. But you can pre-order right now at Areaware.
