Name: Kate
Location: I live next door to Sonoma in Petaluma, but Sonoma is my backyard, and favorite place to spend an afternoon.
City: Sonoma, California
Sonoma is the place for living the Wine Country lifestyle. There's a weekly farmer's market in the historic Sonoma Plaza, a square surrounded by art galleries, wine tasting rooms, and local specialty shops. Adventure beyond the downtown and visit the abundant vineyards and wineries that make this region so desirable, always filled with good wine, fresh food, and happy people, whether local or visiting.

Not that Whole Foods doesn't have their place - I very much appreciate that they've pushed organic and artisanal products to the mainstream consciousness - but if you're like me and you prefer to shop local as much as possible, go to Sonoma Market, which is comparable-to-better-than Whole Foods.
I also recommend stopping in the Sonoma Cheese Factory (on the square) for some gelato, then people watching in the park.
Girl and the Fig! Best meal of my ENTIRE LIFE.
Excellent tip dimsum, I shop there too!

I love Chateau Sonoma. When my husband and I were on our honeymoon last year in the valley, we shopped there and picked up some awesome worn antique menu cards. My plan was to host weekly dinners (like date nights) for friends at our home and post the menu card in our front window, but I have yet to execute that idea..lol.
