I love the city life. The energy, the noise … the takeout! But usually around this time of year I start dreaming of owning a little country cabin. As the temperature starts to rise I begin imagining myself swinging in a hammock under a tree with nothing but the rustling of leaves as my soundtrack. Until the day when I can afford my own country cabin, there’s Kate’s Lazy Meadow Motel.

Located in the Catskill Mountains, Kate's Lazy Meadow Motel is owned (and decorated) by Kate Pierson of The B52's. And as you might expect from a member of that band, Kate decorates with a nod to 1950's space age designs. The cabins and Airstream trailers, spread out on 9 acres of land, are outfitted in "mind-blowing mid-century modern/space age/rocket-your-socks-off decor," as Kate explains on the website. For this city boy, that sounds like just the right setting for a country weekend. Plus, it would give me the opportunity to experience a night in an Airstream, thereby knocking another item off my bucket list.

My mom has actually stayed here and loved it! I am very jealous of her and may need to book my own B-52's adventure...
I loved "camping" with my grandparents in their 28' 1968 Airstream Ambassador with the rear bathroom and mid-cabin bunkbeds...

I could plant myself there for a week, sigh. Love this!
My fiancee actually proposed to me there! We went on our first trip together there and we absolutely loved it!
Looks like a super-fun place to stay, but WOW!! $$$ Talk about spendy...
You will love it! We actually just stayed at one of the other properties - the Lazy Cabin at Mink Hollow. I was compelled to write about it too! http://yaydiy.com/2010/06/yay-weekends-the-lazy-cabin-at-mink-hollow/
When you divide the price by six, and bring all your own meals, we did the entire weekend pretty cheaply. I'll definitely be going back.
