Kate & Family
Our 1975 Ranch was all 1985 when we got our hands on it. Previously filled with mauve floral wall paper, way too many oak and brass light fixtures to count and an assortment of small, handmade shelves bolted to the walls through out lending evidence of the previous occupants enormous figurine collection.
Now with a very different identity our home is filled with a mix of old and new. We love modern design but appreciate it in doses. We love the Northwest landscape and have tried to achieve a sense of nature mixed with the modern. We also needed to cater to the half of our household who are under the age of 6. It is evident kids live here and no rooms are off limits...even little people can appreciate good design without everything needing to have a purple dinosaur slapped across it.
Aside from a few family antiques and some key investment pieces our entire home has been pulled together with items from big box stores, garage sales and consignment stores. We are a family of four and are of course, limited by a budget (if only we could get out of diapers!). We hope it showcases how good design can be pulled together with a shoestring and despite two human hurricanes (ages 2 and 5).
