- What do you love about your bedroom?:
- I love the mixture of old and new. Plus all of the colors make me very happy.
- What are your tips for creating a beautiful, healthy and organized bedroom?
- Buy what you love and you will never get tired of it. Beds and dressers can be hugely expensive so I try to stick to classic lines and buy mainly used. Thrift stores, Craigslist and Flea Malls have amazing deals if you're prepared to rummage through the toot. I'm a stong believer in creating the look for less and snagging a bargain. I'm not the most organized person in the world, so I try to have plenty or storage options to keep my mess in check. Under the bed drawers for things I don't use on a daily basis, seating that doubles as storage and a dresser and nightstands that provide plenty of drawer space.
- In modern homes, bedrooms have become more than just a place to sleep; they can be a retreat, a home office, a library, a relaxation zone. What are some ways you make the most of your bedroom?
- Our bedroom is definitely a place to escape from the daily grind. Being able to move the seating (a stool and knitted pouf) helps make the space more versatile and means we're not stuck with perching on the bed. We use the space to read or listen to music or catch up on emails or just hang out with Murphy (our resident photo bombing expert!). And of course sleep.

Where did you get those purple lamps?! I love them!
Funny I was coming to comment on the lamps to. Are those a recent find? I'd love that same style in a different color.
Could you please share the wall color?
Where are the pillows? I mean, I see two cushions...
Pi, looks like the pillows are UNDER the bedspread. You can see a bit of pillow bulge.
I like the color combo.
Are the nightstands vintage?
Wow, those are some really flat pillows! I didn't even notice them!
Love it! (From a "neighbor" a few miles down the road in Tuscaloosa.) I really love how your headboard accommodates the camouflaged pillow disappearing act.
Love the colors! Beautiful!
I like the color choices with the pop of purple and the accent off the rug.
The last picture of the dog could have been another shot of the room.
I like the subtly moody feeling of this room. I think your photos would have been better with more light--either from the window or artificial. Your bureau is awesome.
Finally, a beautiful room with lovely colour.. I love the gray and the purple. Well done! I was starting to despair as I haven't liked anything yet. Thanks!
Thank you for all the kind comments - I didn't even know my entry had made the cut. The purple lamps were from Target a couple of years ago, I'll check on the paint colour tonight. Ha, I have to admit the pillows are wafer thin. And yes, the nightstands were a flea mall find.
You've got mad skills! :) <3
Like your colour choices, and your photo-bombing pup : )
I love this space & the girl that designed it is pretty flipping awesome herself! :) <3
Keep up the amazing work Kate & your thrifty finds shining!
You have made dark colors look so bright and crisp.Love the purple.
Favorited for the bursts of purple :)
