We often liken our experience navigating the blogosphere to those "choose your own adventure" novels from our youth. One minute we're reading about organizing and a few clicks later, we're up to our ears in a home office overhaul. At least that's how we stumbled across Kate's blog, Centsational Girl.
Tired of always closing the doors to her home office when guests came over, she decided to give it a whole lot of TLC. Kate was initially inspired to do the office overhaul after purchasing the two bookcases that now flank her desk. And while the project took five months to complete, she was able to do it right under $1000. Our faves; the grasscloth wallpaper, the freshly painted closet doors and the DIY bulletin boards made from old cabinets. And don't forget to check out Kate's detailed post onCentstional Girl where she breaks every purchase and project down for you to ooh and ahh over.

White Enamel Flatwa...
I've seen this before and the drapes were from Overstock super cheap and look great.
I'm a regular on the Centsational Girl blog. She's awesome and this reflects it -- gorgeous and totally functional.
I saw this too--DesignSponge perhaps--and happy to see it featured again.
I'm also a regular CG reader, Kate always brings great design to her home (and she's willing to share the wealth...bonus!)
Oh, how I love this.
Love this. What a great job!
Wow - Beautiful office!
This looks like it cost much more than $1000. Great Job!
Beautiful. Sweet without being saccharine.
I love the room but it doesn't look like a place anybody actually works. Nice place for tea but not even a laptop for "office" functionality...
Where's the "thumbs up" button for this room? Stunning!
This space is sooo beautiful! But I agree with Sherry about the functionality... although perhaps this person doesn't work often with a laptop or printer.
I really like the look, but I'm embarrassed to admit I have her old desk. It's a Bombay Company mahogany desk with file drawers that I love for its functionality. Sherry, it seem from her blog that she moved all the papers & office supplies to a dresser in the hallway outside the room so the room doesn't quite function as advertised.
However, I love the overall look and feel, and a more functional desk would be perfect.
Hi AP, thanks so much for the feature ! Thanks to those with complimentary comments ! FYI the pics were taken without my laptop on the desk, my printer is behind closed doors, and my fax machine on the bottom shelf, so it's completely functional and such a soothing space to work in !
Cheers AP, as always, you're the best !
Gorgeous. Good job!
OOh the blues! Look at all the wonderful blues. I;m feeling so inspired- someone give me a wall to paint !
Excellent job!!!
It looks much more cohesive than the before, but this is not a functional office for most as it doesn't have office machines or supplies. I would be more impressed if she had managed to create a beautiful and useful space.
She says it is functional for "her" and that's what matters since "she" is the one using it. She may have supplies neatly stowed away in the boxes. And it's pretty easy to slip a laptop in and out of a closet. Printers can be wireless, so it works perfectly in the closet.
This office is very pretty.
I have been looking for a solid colored, pale blue pillow. Where did you find that quilted pillow?
This is a huge makeover and a very nice one too... I love the blue and how its set up ~
Very Nice !
i love the grasscloth!
I've seen it on her blog, and absolutely adore it. It's so soothing and beautiful, I'm in love the colors. I usually go for something slightly more modern, but I think the all white wood adds that modern touch.
It's just amazing that she did this on that budget - it looks much more layered and textured than spaces I see put together on just a little more than that. Congrats and good job!
A M A Z I N G ! ! ! Good Job :)
oh Beth, i JUST had to comment, even tho my comment is not very much 'addressing' the post ..but, you mentioning "choose your own adventure novels" !! =p - YES!! i used to do that LOADS. haha... AND it is GREAT seeing someone use that to comment/express navigating the blogosphere, 'surf the net' so to speak =)
