One of my favorite vintage sellers, Katherine Raz, the lady behind the brilliant Vintage Bazaar, has teamed up with another vintage retailer to open what she jokingly refers to as a speakeasy vintage store ... Katherine Raz and Sarah Polster both have vast collections of vintage furniture and accessories that they through their businesses, BackGarage and Cushion Chicago, respectively. After keeping their collections in garages and apartments, the pair considered a retail space but quickly jettisoned the notion due to the time commitment a storefront involves. Now they've found a solution that fits their storage needs as well as offering them the flexibility necessary to grow their collections: a warehouse space where they will host occasional open studios.
The first BackGarage/Cushion Chicago open house will be Sunday, June 19th from 2pm - 6pm in the new Garfield Park studio. In addition to wine and snacks, both ladies are reducing prices 30-50% below their usual online price.
