Katie Ridder's Bold and Controlled Use of Color

Down and Out Chic's recent post on interior designer Katie Ridder reminded us of how much we enjoy her bold and fearless use of colour...

Notice how her use of colour draws attention to features in the space. Bold colours on the walls of a powder room and a bathroom make these often blah rooms into giddy jewelboxes, orange curtains punch up neutral couches and draw attention the windows, the rooms best feature. A sea blue wall swirls around Missoni striped chairs, giving the room a feeling of languid ease, perfect for a dining room, while the bold red draws attention to the buffet, often the place where food is laid out. In the last room, colourful art draws attention to a dramatic beamed ceiling. Colour is more than just fun, it's a tool to describe a room's purpose, its mood, its details.
