- Inspiration for my palette:
- The room was inspired by an IKEA bedspread my daughter fell in love with. We filled the rest of the room out with revitalized furniture and textiles from Goodwill.
- Colors used in my room
- I used Martha Stewart Living's Grape Jelly Bean for the purple, Sharkey Gray for the light gray, and Cavern for the dark gray.
- Tips for using color successfully
- When focusing on a bold color in a room, I like to edit out as many conflicting colors as possible by storing those items away. I turn books around on bookshelves or store them in color coordinating upright boxes to limit their visual impact.
- Palette
- Purple Toned Grays

I love the complexities of gray!
most gigantic child's room ever....
want to "like" these, but don't want it to be linked to any social media.
i'm talking to you apartment therapy.
what happened to just plain voting? guess no one will be getting mine - good luck all!
I'm with you, bee vee. I like it, but I'm not going to "like" it.
I would def add this one to my favorites if I could, too!!
This room is beautiful. It's feminine without being over-the-top girly. Great job!
I'm with you guys - I was going to like this room but I don't want it on my FB
Thanks, you can "favorite" the room by clicking on the red box at the bottom of the post without it showing up on Facebook. That button may have been down for a while, hence the confusion. But it's working now.
So Pretty!
Thanks Fire Wife Katie
Very pretty. Where did you get that desk from? I've been looking for something like that.
Thanks, Jessica! The desk is a hand-me-down that we painted to match the room. I wish I could better help you source something like it!
bee vee- I clicked on "Favorite", and it did not show up on my Facebook page. Love the Grape Jelly/gray combo.
Thanks! My daughter is so excited that her room was selected to be shown! You can find more details about her space here:

I am not a fan of purple, but the way you handled this, with those grays, I made it a favorite! Gorgeous!
I love it Katie (especially the desk, I'm just drawn to it!), definitely my favourite in this category! Nice work!
