One trend in technology we've long been keeping an eye upon is the merging of health & medicine with technology, so we were excited when culture insights group, TrendCentral, recently reported about the rise in smart phone apps designed to help monitor your health. Check out their recommendations, and see our own picks below...
Blood Pressure Apps
TrendCentral has pegged iHealth and the Withings Heart Monitor as being particularly useful devices. The iHealth and Withings devices come with blood pressure cuffs that transmit information directly to the iPhone, for your convenience; we agree with their picks, and we also love the iPhone Heart Monitor case, a power case with two electrode contacts that can perform an ECG in an emergency.
Skin Blemish Monitoring
Skin Scan is an iPhone app that takes a photo of a mole or blemish, scans its size, color and shape, then alerts you to whether or not you need to visit a dermatologist. For more skincare, check out our recommendations for high tech gadgets for skin health.
Eye Health Monitor
Finally, the CATRA is a clip-on phone attachment that costs only $1 and is designed to identify cataract development. Like the blemish and blood pressure monitoring apps, it's a useful way to keep a handle on your health and can help indicate whether you need to seek further treatment by professionals.
