@ KTG I was thinking the same---why not combine the cordwrap with the Chargerclutch? Or the keyhook with the letter holder?

The design is creative and yet not.

I really like the mail holder. Its unfortunate that there doesn't seem to be a way to order it. The mail holder would be perfect if it also held keys.

If they would have combined they would be selling one item. The way they have it will, when purchasable, force the consumers to buy several to meet each need. So at that, some may see it lacks creativity designwise. But businesswise, it makes sense... Now if they would just start selling them.

Its only a good business move if they actually make more money selling individually than they would have if they integrated some of the pieces.

Just by separating the 2 components doesnt make it a good business move by default. The bottom line will determine that.

According to their (very poorly designed) website, http://www.keepitcartesian.com/ - these are from four college students. The light plates seem to be a class project, on hold for the summer. Classic engineer mindset! A sheet metal worker could probably whip up a custom plate combining ideas -- three hooks under the letter holder -- pretty quickly.

i am one of the designers from the keep it cartesian group...

due to the overwhelming amount of emails i have received since the posts on mocoloco and apt therapy i have posted an explanation regarding the unavailability of the designs on our website.

we are hoping to license our designs to an interested manufacturer or to produce and sell the items independently through our website.

it's true, this was a class brief that we decided to extend beyond an academic requirement. after numerous prototypes we had a limited run manufactured locally in winnipeg and have had quite a lot of positive feedback. now that interest is being expressed outside of our city/province/country we are researching how to go about supplying the demand.

in regards to the questions about price, we had always planned to keep the retail price below $40 but that is all dependent on the scale of production.

Plasticorange... I still hold to my thoughts of the business sense, however beyond that if you add all of the functions into one it would just be a modge podge and would lose it's aesthetic and clean appearance.

I agree, their website is pretty nice. Maybe m_j_s is a webdesigner or something, and unimpressed in comparison to what he/she can do..?.?.?.?
