Are you tired of rummaging around your diaper bag only to find a pacifier that's covered with a week's worth of cereal snacks, lint and more? Check out this simple trick that makes the most of your takeout.
Cyndi of the blog LaLa had the idea to put small condiment cups to use to keep pacifers clean. As it turns out, many pacifiers fit in this standard size cup that things like salad dressing and dipping sauces come in. In fact, you could probably just ask your waiter for an extra one next time you're out.

Or you could just wipe them off on the side of your jeans, or the hem of shirt that they just spit up all over, or just kind of brush it with your fingers and blow the fluff off, or dip it in your older kids Nalgene bottle and give it a good shake. Or even, in a real pinch, use a diaper wipe.... um, not that I have done any of these.
Sammylou you are all kinds of awesome
Eww, I have a far bigger problem with putting all the chemicals of a diaper wipe directly into a baby's mouth than crumbs and fuzz and whatnot, but that's just me.
Of course it's easy to do all those other things (using jeans, shirt hem, etc), but no one needed a tip for that. And this tip uses something most people already have the house, and it doesn't take a lot of effort to make it happen, so I don't see why we need to be dismissive of it. Just ignore it if you don't want to try it.
Also, how does your older child feel about you washing off undesirable bits and pieces into his/her water supply? I'm all for low-stress parenting, but blowing off someone else's ideas takes it a bit too far for me.
I'm with Sammylou (except for the diaper wipe). Although my son (6 now) gave up his pacifier at 2 months and the new baby (probably) won't ever use one, I was never a germaphobe with him. We live by the 5 second rule here. Our reward? He's allergy free and I can't remember the last time he was sick.
I'm with Sammylou. I don't even mind the diaper wipe--Lord knows my daughter has stuffed plenty of them in her mouth on her own when my attention was distracted for a second. I usually stick with a pacifier chain clipped to her shirt--it seems to keep them clean and out of my diaper bag. I also doubt those thin little condiment cups would stay closed and not crushed in a diaper bag, but maybe that's just my diaper bag.
I don't know of anyone who has a special place for pacifiers. But why not just put them in on of those little snack baggies? They're small, and wouldn't get crushed in a diaper bag and would take up little room. I thought Sammylou was just being funny - I didn't take it that she was poo-pooing someone else's idea.
Or use Avent pacifiers: they come with a cap. It's an extra piece to keep track of, but as a first-time mom, it was worth it!
our diaper bags came with a little zip pouch just the right size for a paci. it was a sort of oil cloth material inside and matching fabrick of the diaper bag.
Avent binkies have caps. We love love love em! We also have a pack of paci wipes (bought at TRUS) that can also be used on sippy cups tips.
