This weekend we took a few minutes to catch up on some of our neglected magazines, and we ran across a great tip for packing a picnic lunch. We thought we were pros at packing the best picnic lunch possible, but leave it to Martha Stewart to put us in our place... with peanuts.
In this month's Living magazine, there was a great tip to packing a picnic basket that allows all your goods to arrive without bruises and in the same shape in which you packed them. Simply use peanuts (still in their shell) as you would traditional packing peanuts to mail a package.
When you arrive at your picnic spot, you can snack on your packing materials and enjoy a lunch that arrived to its destination unscathed. Like Martha says, "It's a good thing."

Martha is freaking brilliant.
Yes, forget all about pesticides or strangers touching your produce before you buy it! Now you! Can add poison to your entire picnic lunch! Just add peanuts!
*Epipen not included.
ok, I totally understand that some people are severely allergic to peanuts (and other foods) but is that a reason for the non-allergic person to not have peanuts when eating out?
This is totally genius!
@amazonww - wow, you must be REALLY allergic to peanuts! Should you even be reading this post? I'm sensitive to the fact that some people are vehemently allergic to peanuts but there can be some regard to the fact that plenty of people can coexist quite happily with peanuts. Even if you were just joking around it, "down with peanuts" just seems super fervent.
Another similar alternative to this is air popped popcorn. I remember my mom used this one year to ship delicate ornaments as Christmas gifts, and it worked like a charm, no broken ornaments. Just don't add melted butter first. This would also satisfy the anti peanut crowd.
If the lunches were seperate, there would be no problem for me personally.
(Read my first comment like an infomercial; it was supposed to be a little bit funny)
