Q: I'm having a remodel dilemma: keep the funky redwood walls in our shower or take them out and tile? We live in the redwoods of the Santa Cruz Mountains in CA so the redwood goes well with the boho lifestyle up here, but the house itself is contemporary in style, so there seems to be a bit of an identity issue...

The master bathroom is very small and the dark wood makes it feel even smaller so I'm partial to tearing it out. My husband likes the look of the redwood and I'd hate to take out a feature that might be considered 'character' or is idiosyncratic in a positive way. Any ideas? Cool or tacky? Keep or ditch? -Sent by Ashley

Editor: I love a good Quirky Finishes question! I've never heard of hardwood shower walls, but this photo is making me wish there was a sauna nearby. What should Ashley do? Please share your advice and your crazy bathroom finishes stories.
