We think vintage collectibles are lovely, and even lovelier when we can find them in their original sets for a reasonable price. This weekend we had the opportunity to shop at The Future Antiques in St Louis, a re-sale shop that is committed...
...to keeping items in their original groupings instead of breaking them up. It is a perfect place to go if you are looking for a complete set of vintage dishes or anything that should come in a pair.

The Future Antiques is a fantastic store... great idea for a post!
this is a fabulous store and they have a nearby warehouse/store that is completed devoted to mid century furniture.
as a matter of fact, my mother's day present, a lane "acclaim" coffee table and two matching side tables, came from TFAs.
if you visit, don't overlook the basement. they have an amazing amount of vintage bark cloth and children's games.
ive been dying to see st. louis pop up on here more!!! I agree with Enamorada I liked the article and was please with how to the point it was. No fluff, but a couple of examples would have been great
Their warehouse store on Morganford Ave., just a few blocks away from their original store on Grand Blvd. has AWESOME recreations of vintage Atomic Age designer rooms straight out of magazines. They've got tons of great pieces, and the last time I was in there were several folks in from Ohio and Wisconsin shipping fine vintage modern furnishings out of state.
Their kitchenwares at the Grand location are phenomenal, too. We just picked up a vintage mixer with bowl from there. Love it! And we saw the dish set in the picture, and really had to talk ourselves out of it and leave before we splurged. It's truly a lovely set in person.
At any rate, Pixie 9 on Cherokee Avenue's antique row also often has great stuff too, though there furniture selections are spottier since their focus is clothing. One of the great thing about STL is you can still get a lot of the atomic age pieces in excellent condition from little old ladies (or their kids dealing with their estates.) There are several dealers who deal exclusively online and several boutiques.
This store is excellent at what it does. I've never found anyone who does what they do quite as well in any other city.

Unlike Kung Fu Chicken, I was unable to resist the urge of running to TFA and buy the dish set after seeing it on this site. It is beautiful and thanks for the inside info so I was able to find such a wonderful unique set for my home!

it helps that my wife is a potter, so we're already inundated with dishes that don't get sold. that's one of those problems you don't mind having. especially, if i may be so bold, when they are as cool as my wife's dishes are. =^D
Good post, but not great. I feel like I was given more information from the people posting in response to your original write-up, than from the write up itself. Maybe give tips on what to look for or ways to clear the gems from the clutter... more pictures may have helped, but you need more text to really bring the pictures into the story.
