We thought this photo box would be useful not as a final destination for photos, but as a holder while they are annotated and cataloged.

Behind the lidded box is a slot for notes or the current picture being considered, and behind that is a spot for pens. Of course, if you are all digital with photos, this still makes a handy stationery box.
