- What do you love about your bedroom?:
- It's clean and simple. I have always wanted an all white room and now I have it! Since it's so simple, I love the pattern that the duvet brings and the color from the shelf of books. It is a small room with a large window and it always feels bright and cheerful to me when I wake up in the morning.
- What are your tips for creating a beautiful, healthy and organized bedroom?
- A place for everything and everything in its place. Since our bedroom is tiny (9'6" x 9'6") we have to have a place for everything. I try to make things pull double duty as well, like the full length mirror that opens to reveal a jewelry closet, and most of the things on the walls are hooks and shelves to create more storage space.
- In modern homes, bedrooms have become more than just a place to sleep; they can be a retreat, a home office, a library, a relaxation zone. What are some ways you make the most of your bedroom?
- Since our room is so small, it is basically just our bedroom. Although, I have been known to camp out on our bed with my iPad and watch movies on Netflix instead of lounging in the living room. Our room is also kind of our library since we keep all of our books on the shelf above the bed.

This gives me hope for my own tiny two-person bedroom. Well done!
I'm sure you'll get plenty of comments criticizing the bookshelf above the bed -- What if it falls? I know I couldn't sleep like that! That looks dangerous! -- but I think it looks great and adds a fun dash of color.
I have been looking for a mirror with hidden jewelry storage JUST like yours! Would you mind sharing the source of your purchase, please?
Thanks! I love the clean lines and simplicity of this room - so peaceful.
It is impressive that you were able to create a stylish and bright room in such a teeny tiny space. The duvet works well with the bright white wall.
Nice room. I wish West Elm still made that duvet cover...it would work perfect in my room.
I'm wondering how you get stuff off the bookshelf with it so high! I love the wall-mounted shelf.
i love the duvet and the simplicity of your room.
the only thing that i cannot handle though are the books on the shelf directly above the head of the bed. i just can't stop thinking about how they might fall down on me when i sleep!
Living in an earthquake prone area that was my first thought too. If there were ever an earthquake those things would come tumbling down right on top of me. ouch!
I get the concern about earthquakes. But really, she lives in Tennessee.
She lives in TN! Earthquakes are not a concern to her. I'm jealous of the shelf - what a beautiful proportion/location on that wall. If I didn't live in San Francisco, i'd copy that in a heartbeat!
I'm with some others here about the shelf of books - I would have to put it elsewhere and lower. I cannot sleep with something looming over me (ceiling fans in particular). Apart from that - this room is perfect, perfect, perfect.
I must know about this bed! It a platform? Link please or info on how you did it.
I really adore this room, the freshness and simplicity, except the bookshelf, I had a bad experience with a shelf above my bed, my cat jumped up and knocked the lamp down on my slumbering face, I woke up with a split lip. Would you not find it awkward to get your books down each time, Other than that I love love this room and the painting is very nice too.
Beautiful, rich hardwood floors. I enjoyed the last picture with the mirror.
I love this, especially the bookshelf! I don't see any brackets for the shelves; how did you hang them?
I love the idea of putting your books along the top of your wall. A lot less invasive compared to large bookshelves to house everything.

Where is that awesome black and white woven wastebasket or mini clothes basket or whatever it is from? Its really cool.
Libby,
I bought the mirror at Ikea and then made it into a jewelry cabinet. You can read more about the project on my blog: http://www.dykast.us/2013/02/05/small-spaces-hidden-jewelry/
whiteswan - the woven wastebasket was found at Target about a year ago and sadly, they no longer carry it.
cstewart - I bought the shelves from Pottery Barn (Holman shelves) and they don't require brackets. They come with all of the mounting hardware needed although we did reenforce it a bit, just to be sure they wouldn't fall! Here is the link for Pottery Barn: http://www.potterybarn.com/products/holman-shelf
HomeSweetAntique - The bed frame is supposed to be a temporary solution! It is actually just a box spring mattress on a regular metal frame. I covered the box spring in gray fabric and because the frame is a dark color it just all blends together so you don't really notice it :)
Pi - To reach the books?! I stand on the bed :)
Looks clean and paceful to me, i like the little wood shelf with the industrial lamp, the grey/white combination of the bed looks great too
