Name: Kelly
Location: Historic Van Vorst Park, Jersey City, NJ
I'm an Interior Designer and have always desired to have more space with which I can decorate. I recently moved from Manhattan to Jersey City where I found my dream canvas - a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment in a townhouse overlooking Van Vorst Park. In my job, I often get to work with clients who have seemingly limitless budgets, but this is not the case in my personal life.

I must be very budget conscious and thrifty when purchasing for my apartment. I have gone to numerous estate sales, dug through flea markets will piles higher than myself, and searched online resources to find that "perfect" item. With a bit of stain, polish, and a good clean, items look brand new!

My style is very eclectic, with a mix of mid century, traditional, and bold touches. I was lucky enough to begin my career by being mentored by the mix master, Eric Cohler. His work has helped guide me with my ability to be unafraid to select styles that some would never consider combining.

I have furthered my style as an interior designer at Jed Johnson Associates. This has helped me to develop a more sophisticated palette, where I tend to stay away from trends, and go for a more classic approach.

Thanks, Kelly!

Shaw's Original Fir...
BEAUTIFUL! I wish I could see the whole house.
I absolutely love your dining room chairs. And your living room reminds me a lot of my own. I too just moved and am figuring out my style.
What's hanging over the bed? It looks very nice.
Well Done - Brillant Execution
Gorgeous, but it looks like the place is decorated with furniture and housewares, not space!
Sorry. I'm a copy editor. I can't stop myself. I have a condition.
Really lovely pad, though. I love the elegant-but-not-stuffy vibe.
Tres Chic! Love the lamps on the bedside table and the stools in front of the TV.
oh my we are neighbors!
love your place.
This is absolutely gorgeous! Love the chandelier in the first picture!
LOL that was funny.
Agree, lovely place. You're lucky to have such nice moulding.
Exquisite. For once when I wish there were a link to contact the designer/owner, there is none. I'd love to have a color consult with Kelly!
Lovely and livable.
Absolutely lovely! Thanks for sharing.
Photos have some white balance issues and the last shot can benefit from a 2 degree counter clockwise rotation.
I love the choice of furniture.
Full tour please...this is lovely!
Thanks for your comments. its a piece by Meagan Donegan
Love the dining area the most. What a lovely little space. The chairs, the table, the wall color... It looks great.
One of the best, a beautiful home.
We're also neighbors! Your house is lovely.
Really, really gorgeous... would love to see this get the full length treatment. I love the mixture of upholstery and wood. I feel truly inspired by this.
Oh and Kelly, could you post your paint colors?

I enjoyed reading about your experience. It felt honest. I can tell you mix well too, as your inspiring boss. I can imagine how working for this industry may impact the way the house is "livable" -- I didn't find much of this livability in the photos, they appeared staged (well, AT was photographing it, of course, I get it) and I wonder if it feels as beautiful when it gets a little messy (hope so!)
What a beautiful space!
really lovely; do you have an online portfolio? i'd love to see more of your work.
and yes - full house tour please =)
I love the table and the chairs! Too cute!
