What I Love About My Entryway:
I "commission" my daughter to paint a family portrait every couple of years. They keep turning out to be perfect pieces to hang in our entryway. Re-doing this space was one of our very first projects when we moved in almost 3 years ago and I am so happy with how we have made a previously dim, dull, beige, hideously wallpapered space into a happy and bright introduction to our family home.
Three of My Best Tips and Tricks for Creating a Successful Entryway:
1) make your own art! Ka-Pow! 2) taking an older house (ours was built in 1950) back to white really freshens the vibe while also allowing the original character such as wood panel walls and a craftsman barn door style closet door to still shine through. 3) pick colors that make you happy every time your eye falls on them. We painted our door "Splashy," the ceiling "Aviary Blue," the walls "Marshmallow" and the mail slot and exterior door "Fireworks" (all Sherwin-Williams).
