- What do you love about your bedroom?:
- Our home is almost ninety years old. It's fitting that our son's room is composed of many inherited antiques and vintage pieces, but I didn't want it to be stuffy or (entirely) expected. The room is filled with pieces that are precious to us in terms of memories, but it's okay if something gets barfed on or breaks.
- What are your tips for creating a beautiful, healthy and organized bedroom?
- Make it a place where you can rest and play. Everything else will work itself out.
- In modern homes, bedrooms have become more than just a place to sleep; they can be a retreat, a home office, a library, a relaxation zone. What are some ways you make the most of your bedroom?
- The bed is for jumping (always), the crib is for sleeping (never), the chair is for rocking (sometimes), and the books are for eating (obviously). I think that covers it.

Lovely - and your comments gave me a good laugh too :)
That arched built in bookshelf is incredible. And I love Paddington Bear. This is a great room that makes me want to see the rest of the house. How visually appealing yet not too precious.
Still, I wish there were hardwood floors in this room. The wall to wall carpeting and the new entry into the sunroom section of the bedroom made me think immediately it was a newer suburban house. I wish the 90 year old history were more readily apparent. Ah, it would elevate that great bed and bookcase even more.
I love the painting above the bed!
I love this room but I can't figure out the age of the child. I guess the bed is for Mom and Dad or guests?
Love the den with sunlights, and the L-shape curtain is perfect for that space. Feels homey already.
I love your son's room, it doesn't scream kid but it's still adorable and your answers gave me a laugh. :)
I'm originally from Jacksonville, so I'm curious where your house is located. Near Riverside or Springfield maybe? Anyway, great room for a kid. I get a little tired of seeing overly themed and decorated kids rooms.
Aston is fortunate to have a mom who balances functionality with whimsy. The placement of objects gives a strong sense of symmetry. One of my most favorite rooms thus far.
thorndale, i really disliked the carpet when we bought the house (it's in all three of the bedrooms on the second floor... you can see more at tearinguphouses.blogspot.com ), but decided we'd keep it in the nursery until aston is a bit older, when i figured we'd expose the hardwoods underneath. to my surprise, though, it's grown on me in his room. the softness and quality are really nice.
