- What I Love About My Small Home:
- I love the amount of windows in our home, all of which are original to the 1954 house. As many other small home dwellers have noted, having lots of natural light is great for making small places seem spacious.
Seeing as our home is a single family house with a front yard, back yard, and a garage we are fortunate to have plenty of storage space and outdoor areas to expand the living areas. Having a full dining area in the backyard makes our relatively small kitchen seem huge.
And lastly, I love the fact that cleaning a smaller house is so much easier! I never take for granted that I can clean every baseboard in the entire house in less than a half an hour.:)
- Biggest Challenge of Living in a Small Space
- As I mentioned before, having a garage and outdoor space makes living in a small home very easy. We feel that there is plenty of storage space and room to grow with our home.
The only challenge that we've come across in the last year since purchasing this home is learning to be patient when selecting furniture. It was strange adapting to the fact that even though something looks tiny on a furniture showroom floor it's probably going to look huge in a 750 square foot house! Now we always bring tape measures. :)
We've also learned to be selective buyers and only keep necessities or items that hold sentimental value.
Thanks!

Did you make that shelving unit? FAB-U-LOUS!!!! Frame the drawings of those dear heads, would ya!? :o)
Like to color combo. Yellow kitchen counter...now that's taking us back!
Nice space and wonderful that you have a garage. That does make a huge difference when living in a smaller space.
I love the bathroom & kitchen colors. :)
Ditto to what JAX217 said. :)
Love the mixture of brights and neutrals. It works well with all your light. The shelves are fantastic. Old wine crates?
I love it all! Including the art hung with painters tape.
LOVE the white lamps against the dark wall in the bedroom. So pretty.
Yes curious if you did the shelving area. Very cool! Love the place esp the black wall in the bedroom. Only thing not a fan of is the rug in the living room
We identical bathrooms! Love the light, Charlie Harper fan, love the bedroom wall even though I've never been a fan of an accent wall, yours really works, is it a deep brown? Ok, I truly understand the need for area rugs, but the one in your living room seem somewhat out of place. You guys did a wonderful job.
Great home!!!!
Oh and it's soothing with the well thought decor. I love the cats too:)
What a bathroom!
Thanks for all of the feedback! It's great to hear. :)
Yes, the bookcase in the living room is made from wine boxes. I bought them from a store called Total Wine & More, sanded and stained them, reinforced the bottoms, and hung them individually on the wall. The whole project cost around $80!
You can also see some more in the far left of the first photo, underneath the windows. We needed extra book storage, and they work as the perfect cat seats to gaze out the window!
I love that bathroom...I would love to get a cabinet like that...was it from Ikea? Do you know the name of the wall color in the bathroom?
great use of color in the bedroom!!!
Love it!
What timing to see the Neko Case poster the same day as the tour of Neko Case's house!
I love the blue walls!
I would love to see a home tour of this! Love the last two pics especially.
As a motorcyclist, my fantasy home is a little house attached to a garage! Like the green walls and the kitchen, which looks chipper.
I love the bath towels in the bathroom!!!! I want ten!!! :)
@GIGI5555
The bathroom cabinet is from Ikea! I got it about a year and a half ago, and it was a close out sale...so I'm not sure of they'll still have it.
And the bathroom paint is Behr Anonymous. (780F-5)
there is much to love here
What a beautiful home!!
Cool shelves! And I love how bright the kitchen is!
omg- those wine crate shelves are awesome!
Like the black wall very much too.
Great job-kudos!
I really liked the shelves you made, and all the colors you used throughout the space!
