I have a confession; for me, styling your house and decorating it to perfection is a matter of pure instinct. I'm not an interior designer. I've never studied interior design or decorating yet I have always admired those who do. I drive by Kenneth Brown Home at least once a day and think "what a delightful little space"!
Kenneth Brown is well established in the design world, and known for creating thoughtful and warm atmospheres. He opened his own design firm in 1997, and made a name for himself with television shows on TLC and HGTV. Kenneth has worked with such celebrities as Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and Kristen Bell. Trying out a new adventure, he and his design team have opened up a retail space.
The intimate and cozy shop sits half a block off of the busy La Brea Design district- Kenneth explained to me that he preferred to have a bit more privacy than the usual busy foot traffic. Another thing I noticed immediately is the high vaulted ceilings that create a sense of openness, as the space itself is reflects the size of a modest apartment. Kenneth also explains he wants to bring southern charm to Southern California living. Adam Straus and Min Cha, his two assistants help run the shop, were quite helpful at making me feel right at home.

Lovely space. I haven't seen or heard anything about him in awhile. I remember when he used to have a show on HGTV. Man, HGTV has really gone down hill. If I see another episode of House Hunters, I think I'll scream!
Oh, those floors! Would love to know type of wood and finish.
Beautiful!
The light fixture in that first image is to die for! Going in my inspiration folder. Unless someone knows where I can get one in Canada?
LOL Jalex, true, He was one of a handful of the designers (not counting the ones imported from Canada, Candace and Sarah Richarson are fabulous) that knew what he was doing.
I second needing to know a source for that light! Something similar, perhaps?
A man after my own design heart. I love Kenneth Brown!
This looks a lot like Plantation.
Amen!, to the HGTV has gone downhill. Kenneth Brown is one of my fav designers. I loved his show.
Yes, whatever happened to HGTV? If they take a break from "House Hunters", it's only to play episodes of "Designed to Sell". Isn't there life between house hunting and selling?
Kenneth Brown would come on a show where homeowners would get to pick a design from 3 decorators to redo a room. They'd always pick Kenneth & he'd do a pretty good job.
this is why I believe in love at first site...for artwork - this is gorgeous!
I have had the good fortune of meeting Mr. Brown at a home and garden show in Houston and again in Los Angeles at a restaurant called Meson G. He was very gracious both times and his work very much reflects his personality. He is very charming and I do not believe that it will be hard for him to introduce southern charm to the people of California. Best wishes with your gorgeous store!
How about a source for the wall colour?
oohh la la!
Cluttered, busy, and dull. Boring. Generic. Looks like Z Gallery, which I detest. Made in China, shipping container crap. His assistants are cute, though.
He had the best show on HGTV! I always wondered what happened to him. HGTV thinks Vern and Antonio are replacements for the talents of Mr. Brown. Even Design Star was a disaster this season. Bring on Vanilla Ice- why not?
Generic, a bit, and there is some beauty in these vignettes as well. But most of all....the photographs are smashing.
Yeah HGTV sucks. I like House Hunters International when they go to cool places like Paris but most of the time it's just the same old suburban houses being shown. I do really like the Antonio Treatment though because Antonio creates some cool stuff. Divine Design is also pretty cool.
Oh yeah and Vanilla Ice?!?! WTF?
Love the floors and lighting! Does anyone know the manufacturer? I would like to post it on my local blog http://designsavvyofnj.blogspot.com! Check it out!
Thanks for the reminder re Ken's show on HGTV. I had forgotten his name but as soon as I saw his picture it came back to me. It used to be one of the best HGTV shows.
I like the light fitting in the main picture, pendant with a difference. Interesting way to show products - need to visit LA to check it out! Will be writing about it on my own blog http://apdinteriors-blog.com - think lots of people in London would like Ken's range
I truly miss Kenneth Brown. Thank God for David Bromstad because if I see one more episode of House Hunters or House Hunters International or My First Place I'll scream!! There's nothing wrong with the shows, just overkill, lack of program scheduling imagination. Lazy programming guys! Ooooh Kenneth where are you?!!
The hardwood floors are from the DuChateau Vernal Collection in San Tropez. We are thrilled to be in Kenneth Brown's store! Please visit our website for more info - http://www.duchateaufloors.com/
