When we were a young club kid, there was this place we used to hang out where, just underneath the plexiglass bar, was an installation consisting of a mesh screen which held free hanging straight pins. You could push them up with your hand and, while doing this with an individual straight pin would be very painful, the sensation of all of these pins pressing into your hand was very pleasant. Designed by Kenneth Cobonpue to support the craftsmanship and resources, primarily wicker and rattan, of his native Cebu in the Philippines, the seating is composed of natural rattan poles which sit on top of a polyurethane cushion and sink softly when sat on.
