Name: Three kids ages 8 and 2.5 (twins)
Location: Canada
We recently renovated the basement space in our home so we'd have a family room space that our 3 young kids could enjoy. Our goal was to create a bright and cheerful space that they would love to spend time in. So we intentionally kept the style of the room very whimsical and playful - with fun pops of color.
s soon as you enter the space, you're greeted with an 'alphabet wall' in the stairway (with big chunky letters of each of our initials) that creates a "playtime" vibe. The space itself is an eclectic mix of modern (e.g., lamps and accessories) and cottage (e.g., beadboard and painted wooden furniture) with a touch of bohemian style.
Our nearly-8-year-old daughter shares the space with her two 2.5 year old twin brothers, so our challenge was to make it work functionally for all of them. For example, the wall storage system from IKEA was a great solution because it keeps her coloring leads and markers within her reach, but out of our two-year old boys' hands.

This is great! I would love to see a "before" picture.
It's a great space, and very fun... but...but... that tv is way too high. For comfortable viewing, it needs to be at eye-level.
i love the blue and red! especially the gallery up the stairs and those painted reels! great space to hang out!
i like the movie reels!!!
