Instead of buying a new fixture, we painted it, and it came out great and gave the room a pop of color it needed! By adding batten and board we elevated the space to look more upscale. A final touch of wallpaper pulled it all together. I uploaded a "before" to see the transformation.

Paint- we went with a simple palette, but added pops of color in light fixture and rug. (still thinking of painting the door an accent color). Adding batten and board to make the room feel more upscale and custom. A place for practical needs: since we didn't have a closet, our coat rack does the trick and we have a small nook with a table on it for mail, keys, fresh flowers, etc.
