Lincoln Square — Chicago, Illinois
The items in my home are largely a collection of flea market finds and family hand-me-downs. I believe in the philosophy "Buy what you love — it will all work out".
There is a common denominator for all things in my home: there is always a story behind the item. For example, on my mantle you will find a collection of sterling silver napkin rings. My mother started giving me sterling silver napkin rings (all mismatched, found at various antique shops) when I was in elementary school. Her goal was to give me something that I could have forever, instead of another stuffed animal or doll. Each ring features a name or monogram; my favorite reads "Paul From Louisiana". My living room also houses an antique carved trunk. This had been given to my grandmother by her cousin when she was a small child; the cousin was stationed in a faraway land while serving in the military, and she shipped the trunk home as a gift for his favorite family member.
The pictures I am enclosing are filled with Christmas decorations. The decorations are now put away, but you can get the general idea (plus, I wanted to take advantage of the holiday tidiness!).
