Name: Kerry
Location: Santa Fe, New Mexico
We love getting these little sneak peeks inside of our readers homes as we open our email each day. Kerry's home is a perfect example of the type of wonderfully unique space that we can't wait to share with the Apartment Therapy community…
Kerry writes: Our home was built in 2010 and is a modernist take on the local adobe pueblo style. It's sustainably built with non-VOC paints, high R-value insulation and windows, Solar thermal water heating and reclaimed and recycled wood, concrete aggregate and steel. Our style is a relaxed modern with everything from salvage finds to Knoll to IKEA to handmade. (One of us is pretty good welder and the the other can sew anything!) We had a wonderful builder that let us participate in the design process and to help out during the build which gave us a real sense of accomplishment. We love our home!
Thanks, Kerry!

Shaw's Original Fir...
What a home.. All the things that are used are either natural or using some natural resource.
Very close to home for me! Nice to see New Mexico represented. :)
Very nice. I especially like the orange wall. Also looks like a black kitty on the couch? or is that a pillow shaped like one?
It's nice that it is green
However, it's lacking something and I'm having a hard time putting a finger on what it is.
I think that it may be 'trying' to be something and it's not quite there and in that process it isn't a cohesive design.
The living room furnitures are nice, although I'm not sure of that thing hanging from the ceiling (xmas lantern?). Also, the fireplace looks very lonesome in that corner.
I'm liking the kitchen except for the emp
ty space above the frdge. Would have been nicer if the cabinet extends above it all the way to the other wall.
Kerry take it from another Kerry I love your place and the warm, cozy feel to the place. Kerry's Rock!
Beautiful home :) I love adobe style!
Being that I was raised in ABQ and vist SantaFe for all the gory that it is...KUDOS to you for mixing the best of mis-century modern with beautiful and staggering tradition. Well done.
Thank you, everyone. When I took these pix we'd been living the the house all of a month after it had been finished, I was just happy not to have boxes everywhere. So things are a bit 'not-there-yet'. I honestly didn't realize AT would post these shots!
Anyhow, if I get the chance to take new shots for a full tour, you'll see what I got done in the last few months. Although, since we like a simple, minimal design, the rooms are not full of furniture with every wall decorated with something on it. We like empty space, especially with the views we have out our windows...nothing can compete with those!
Oh, and the thing TacoBell called an 'xmas lamp' is a handmade pinata made from recycled or reclaimed paper by a leading artist here in Santa Fe. It's very cool 'in person'.
Love_Dylan, I agree that it seems to lack something. But since they had only been there a month it may be that the cohesion had yet to manifest but is on its way.
I like this, I dont think tons of stuff has to be on the walls to "make" a space. Isnt having less stuff part of being eco friendly.
Where is that bench from? I've seen it before in other posts, and just haven't come across it anywhere.
