The Golden Age. We learned about Kiddie Records Weekly on Saturday morning (thanks Write, Mama Write!) and spent more of the weekend than we'd like to admit exploring this treasure trove of a website. What began as a one-year project to give new life to old children's records from the 40's and 50's became a three year affair - and aren't we glad.
We started our own listening marathon with a charming reading of Dumbo by Shirley Temple and then tried a few that are probably familiar to our parents' generation, but were new discoveries for us (like The Unsuccessful Elf). A good story is a good story no matter how old and we think you and your children will enjoy tapping into this wonderful resource.
Best of all, the records are free to listen to and even free to download (or save yourself some time and buy them on cd). Load them onto your MP3 for car trips or wind down at night with one. There are hundreds to enjoy so get started!
