Kid-Friendly Hotel Design: International

Wake up in a comic strip. Earlier this month we looked at some creative kids' hotel rooms in San Francisco. Now we're looking at a few fun rooms around the world. Above is the Comic room in the Arte Luise Kunsthotel, a small art-themed hotel in Berlin, Germany. While not specifically marketed to children, what kid wouldn't get a kick out of this surreal room?

This room at Swissotel in Sydney, Australia feels straight out of an Ikea catalog. It's attached to an adult room and sports child-size furniture and plenty of toys.

The Ramada Resort at Karon Beach in Phuket, Thailand has chosen three themes for their kids rooms - Underwater (pictured above in the best photo we could find - sorry), Space and Castles. The Underwater rooms have tropical aquariums, dvd libraries with sea-themed movies, and periscopes.

I live in Sacramento and used to live in the SF Bay area. We spent a weekend in SF with the kids at Hotel Diva and stayed in the kid-friendly suite. It was in November. We took the train down, stayed in the hotel, did the museums and saw the holiday decorations in the stores. The kids loved the room and it was nice for us to have a separate area to ourselves. I think we will make it an annual pre holiday tradition.

Ok, so this hotel I stayed in once is just a super wacky hotel that any kid could love!

In the lobby the chairs are old bar stools, recliners, and dentist chairs! There is a REAL air plane and train car in the front yard of the hotel, and one wing of the hotel is gray bricks and shaped like a castle! There's also a great indoor/outdoor swimming pool and arcade games.

I think it is also a theme hotel in some of the rooms... but that is definately for the adults!

I just looked at all the rooms at the hotel you linked. My reaction is as follows: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Thats a dont-sit-on-the-toilet-seat-or-touch-anything place if I ever saw one.
