Our friend Sarah reached out for shopping help when her three year old son's request left her stumped. "I have no idea what Cade is talking about, but he keeps saying he wants a dollhouse for boys that has a gym!? Has anyone seen a dollhouse-type toy for a boy? I don't care if it's for a girl, but he is aware of pink being for girls so everything I suggest is apparently only for little sister Harper." We all racked our brains for ideas until our friend Amy mentioned the KidKraft Everyday Heroes set she spotted the other day. Bingo!
This huge play set with three floors and twelve rooms looks like lots of fun. It comes with a fire truck, motorcycle, helicopter, firefighter, police officer and two dogs. It's big enough for several kids to play with at once and folds up for easy storage. Check out this video:
Cade practically lives in his firefighter costume and went bonkers when he saw a picture of the play set. It has a gym and hello, a firehouse pole! Brace yourself, little buddy, your baby sister is going to be all over this thing as soon as she is mobile. Pink, shmink. Amy who answered this riddle tipped us off that the set is $15 less in-store at Costco than it is online.

Shaw's Original Fir...
I just forwarded this link to my son's grandparents... I know what will be under the Christmas tree this year!! :-)
That design is a serious eyesore. Busy, huge, bad design. Kidcraft is manufactured in China and has had several recalls already over contaminated paint/lead.
Why not choose a toy that looks good and is safe? http://www.amazon.com/Plan-Toys-0621900-PlanToys-Rescue/dp/B0015D25RW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1288291252&sr=8-3
ah, misread the comment that the play set was $15 LESS in stores.. I thought it was $15! Oh well. Still a great price for such a fun play set!
They have these instore at Costco for $79 or online for $89!
While that plan toys one is adorable and one I would choose based on looks, I know if I gave my 5 year old the choice, he would choose the kidkraft one. It's bigger, and has more to do. Since it would probably keep him entertained longer, and the plan toys one can cost as much or more than this one for less stuff I would have to go with kidkraft. I do <3 plan toys though.
Oh boy, this is fantastic! I had the plan toys one on my wish list for my boys, but I think I like this one even better (since it looks like 3 boys can play with it at once, which is key.)
Need to find it somewhere other than Costco, though...
I've had my eye on this one from Land of Nod for my 2 1/2 year old for Xmas. To me, it seems a good compromise between KidKraft and Plan Toys.

I just bought mine on sale at the boys depot ! My son is going to love this for his birthday coming up. I'll post the link to the website for you. This site has some great stuff for boys such as bedding, room decor, wall decals and some cool toys for boys.
