Congratulations are in order! This post marks the end of yet another wonderful outpouring of creativity, thanks to the Ohdeedoh readership. Our favorite thing to do is show off the beautiful spaces that you have made for your children - such great ideas, such amazing color, so much love and care in every design decision. It's a real treat. This year, we were able to share 46 children's rooms, and thanks to your votes, we arrived at 9 semi-finalists. Those nine went on to our panel of AT editor judges (Maxwell, Alex, Carrie, Janie and Tammy) for their vote and the three entries below are our winners. Drumroll please....
Congratulations! We know you'll enjoy your prizes from Argington and are sure you enjoy spending time in these amazing rooms...we also hope you'll enjoy knowing that you officially have the MOST Beautiful Colorful Kids' Rooms of 2008!

i think sayer (big 'S' on the wall) should have been in the top three.
I agree with k8theriver! I would have liked to see the big "s" room in there, too. Also, I really loved the one with the primary colors that had the triangular-shaped alcove/closet. That said, the first place room was one of my favorites, so I was happy to see that it won!
The winner was the winner, no doubt. I'm a little skeptical about the runners up, particularly the aviary room. They aren't very innovative and do not, in my opinion, show a "beautiful use" of color. I'm also scratching my head over the prizes-- I hope the children (ages 3-13) from the READ room enjoy their toddler bed? I don't think this contest was very well organized.
As usual, I am somewhat amazed at how rude some people can be on this site in particular. There is a way to express an opinion that is respectful. For example, personally I do not care for the room that won first place. However, I do not feel the need to disparage the room, its decorator, or those who organized and ran this contest, as it was something intended to inspire creativity, not inspire spite or rudeness.
Everyone is, of course, entitled to their own opinions and to express those opinions. I think it would be nice, however, to choose words carefully before we speak - or, in this case, type -and consider the feelings of others.
I just wanted to thank everyone for their votes and kind comments on my room (Julianna's Rainbow Room). I was certainly in the company of some great competition and found inspiration in everyone's entries.

I grew up with a set of the stack stools identical to the ones in the winning room; quite a shock to see relics like those in a winning bedroom design. They were in our family room and used all the time by me and my four siblings. Hope Julianna and her friends/siblings get as much use out of them as we did.
Wow. I remarked to my DH before the contest closed that the first and second place rooms were the two best ones. So glad to see them win.
The Rainbow Room has great colour scheme, but it is too thought out and too neatly arranged - just for taking pictures and less for playing and living in. Why - the walls are too intense and may provoke hiperactivity; there are also too many sharp corners and a lamp at very low level which make this room unsuitable for a kid. I like all the accents and all the furniture, but may be for a teenage girl?
