Need an activity to do with your child this weekend? The Children's Museum of Pittsburgh has just launched its Instructables page and they've got a great suggestion: using some simple materials, make a single-string electric guitar.
The Children's Museum of Pittsburgh launched its Instructables page today, to share projects that "previously only visitors got to experience".
Its inaugural project, How to make a simple electric guitar, uses basic materials like hot glue and a guitar pick. Other, more hazardous materials like epoxy and the soldering iron may require adult supervision.
At the end of the project, you can plug your creation into the microphone jack of your computer and record your music.
The CMP runs a blog which contains plenty of other science projects and experiments for kids, and includes background info on the workings of the museum that would interest children.
Check out all the steps on Instructables.
