Kids are renters too! When faced with boring white boxes, parents resourcefully find colorful coverings for the floor. The results are anything but dull. Here are some beautifully simple rooms for children, along with some of my favorite affordable patterned rugs.
TOP ROW:
- This rug in a room from Family Living has every color in the rainbow, making it a versatile choice.
- A blue patterned rug is just one of three colorful patterns in this otherwise white room, from Martha Stewart.
- A bright blue chevron rug anchors this boys room, seen in Country Living.
- Designer Marie Olsson Nylander chose a bohemian rag rug for her son Otto's room, via San Francisco Girl by Bay.
- A huge green circular rug grounds this Scandinavian room from Family Living.
BOTTOM ROW:
- Lappljung Ruta from Ikea
- Rhapsody Wool Rug from Dash & Albert
- Trellis Ikat Rug from Overstock
- Stripe Multi Rug from CB2
- Color Static Rug from Land of Nod

Is there a home tour or source for that first picture? Love that room!
Can anybody ID the bedspread from #2? I feel like I've seen it before and I really like it!
I love the simplicity of the rooms matched with bold colors!
The bedspread in #2 is from IKEA. I can't recall the name (I'm wanting to say it was from the Andrea series), but it is discontinued, sadly.
I have the bedding from ikea 1 twin but need another twin set or one king set. Grrr they were discountinued. Great rooms. Love the white walls.
wow!the room is awesome;)!loving the decorations of the walls:)
Love these rooms! In addition to rugs, fun bold colourful bedding is another great way to add some personality to a kids room!
