We love examples of great looks at even better prices. If you have a knack for finding the right look and still be at, or below your budget, then we salute you. Eva's space shows a lovely room that was affordable and fun to put together.
Take the full tour after the jump...
Eva's mom, Emily writes, "We moved into this house after returning from living overseas with barely a stick of furniture to our name. We were attempting to furnish an entire home on next to nothing. I often hear terms thrown around like 'budget decor', 'design on a dime' and ahem, 'design within reach' and I often find the rooms to contain nearly nothing that I would consider budget. Or perhaps their dime is just worth a little more than mine. When I say that Eva's room was done on a shoestring, I mean a shoestring!"
Emily tells us more about the room below...

Inspiration:
The infamous Domino nursery that launched 1,000 nurseries.
Favorite Element:
The graphic black and white curtain offsetting the "sweetness" of the rest of the space. And of course, that cherry blossom branch.
Biggest Challenge:
Taking inspiration from that photo but then doing with really nearly no money at all. Anyone can have a fabulous room with no money at all -- it gets a whole lot trickier when you're broke.
What Friends Say:
"I need your help." The most flattering thing we could be told.

Proudest DIY:
I made the photo board and Sean made the curtains. Neither was particularly difficult but it is still fun to be pleased with what you've done rather than having paid someone else to do it.
Biggest Indulgence:
The rocking chair, but i think we'll have it and love it for life.
Best advice for those approaching the decorating process:
Move beyond pastels, baby chicks and bunny rabbits. If ever there is a room to have fun with, it is a kids' room. Just go for it!

Resources:
• Ikea - bed, dresser, fabric for photo board & curtains, lamp, clock
• Target - bedding, side table
• The chair is from a small shop in NYC that I can't recall the name of; similar one available at Design Within Reach.

so light, fun & fresh! i would sleep there, for sure.
Love it - where did you get that cherry blossom branch decal?
It's actually not a decal, my best friend painted it for us. Yea, we're lucky.
Pretty! I love the bed and bedding the most.
looks amazing. Love all the details.
I can't see the slideshow- does the link work for everyone else? :/
From what I can see of the room though in these pictures, its beautiful! Well done!
love this! And that domino image is in my inspiration folder too (although we're not having kids anytime soon)!
love the entire room - beautiful work! where did you get the mirror?
What a beautiful room! I love it! How long ago did you get the bedding from Target and do they still carry it?
I love the lampshade! Are the flowers patches or embroidered? I have been waiting for inspiration for my daughter's lampshade and this is it!
sorry for the late responses!
mirror - vintage, gift from my mom
Target bedding, 2 years old not sure if they still carry it.
lampshade from Ikea, I'm pretty sure that it is still there.
thanks for all the kind comments.
i love the eva heart print on the door....where can i find one? =)
This. is. divine. Gorgeous, unexpected color combos in a room that will evolve as the child grows. Love the bed, the photo board, that tree branch - love it all!
My best friend painted the heart with Eva's name. She did a different one for my son. I can get you her contact info if you are interested in having one made.
What I like about this room is that you have used vintage furniture and items. In a day when everyone wants the latest it's great that some are still holding onto what was past.
Beautiful cherry branch. Where did you find the tulip table?
