While we're all about whittling down on belongings, the fact is, some of us just have a lot of stuff. Yarn for knitting, magazines we can't bring ourselves to part with, sentimental collections and so on. And while you may or may not have kids, storage pieces aimed at organizing their stuff can provide a well-designed solution.
After all, kids themselves come with a lot of stuff and even the most minimalistic parents are looking for places to store it. These pieces satisfy both needs, providing lots of places to stash belongings, while looking good enough for any room in the house.

I used to have the Ikea Trofast unit, marketed as toy storage, http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/80063673 in a closet under stairs. It fit perfectly in the wedge-shaped space and had room for all my outdoor gear.
That is a fantastic bed! Looking forward to seeing is in Queen size...
Anybody have any suggestions for a King size storage bed? I've been scouring the web to no avail.
@banhmi: Bibiovore's got it right. I have a standard spring mattress in a waterbed frame (think captain's bed). Platform eliminates need for a box spring, and there are six good-sized drawers underneath, three on each side. It's a hand-me-down, not exactly my style, but with the storage underneath and in the headboard (alcoves and bookshelves and cubbies, oh my!), I've never been able to justify replacing it.
Downside: changing the fitted sheet is HARD on the back when it's a king you're dealing with. Since I have back problems, I just use two flat sheets and straighten out a little when I make the bed. Easier changing of linens is basically the only real reason I toy with getting a new bed.
