Even the most intrepid parents can be intimidated by travel with a small child. We aren't sure what's worse, the prospect of losing a favorite toy or having to dig for it in the dark and dirty unknown of an airplane floor. In preparation for her daughter's first plane trip, Kathy of Merriment Design made this blanket, assuring a very happy maiden voyage.
Kathy upcycled an old swaddling blanket for the back and chose some darling matryoshka fabric for the front, affixing snag-free velcro loops to the blankets perimeter to attach toys. Recycled ribbon and vintage ric rac in different colors and textures give baby plenty to touch, and two pockets with velcro closures are the perfect stash for small books.
