A friend, pregnant with her second, is dreading having to get a double stroller but her son (2) isn't quite ready to walk all the time. We spotted this Kid-Sit stroller seat (for sale in the U.K.) and wondered if it wouldn't be a good compromise.
We see many parents in our neighborhood have boards attached to their strollers for older children to stand on when they tire of walking. The Kid-Sit is a similar idea and can be used with the board alone or with the click-on seat. You can read more about it here (it retails for around £95).
Do you know of a similar product in the U.S.? What other options do parents of a toddler and an infant have besides a double stroller?

Nomade Express Slee...
These seem like a good idea, but how do you walk behind it with a board or this seat attached? With my phil & ted's stroller, I can comfortable walk behind the stroller instead of straddling or duck-walking, and it can be a single or a double depending on how the kids feel that day.
I agree with mdmeyer. I love my phil & ted's and it's been a lifesaver since my girls are only 19.5 months apart. It doesn't take up any extra space like a normal double stroller, plus, the older one still has a seat that reclines if they still take naps.
i really like. i can see my kid wacking his head on the handle bar though. i agree with mdmeyer worring about duck walking behind the thing. the price is dead on the kids look comfy.
This would work for my five month old and two yr old. looks like it will grow with my five month old and she can sit in front too.
the joovy modle is for older babies. the uk stroller would work for an infant also.
I saw that : http://static.letsbuyit.com/filer/images/fr/products/original/55/33/buggypod-sidecar-pour-poussette_6869663-6869663.jpg in action on a flea market, here, in Belgium and it looked practical (and made me regret the board we have - my son, 22 months old, already fell from it, it's not very comfortable for him and for me neither)
I'm due with my second any day now and we got this sit & stand stroller (here in the US): http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3980761
My son is just over two and loves to walk, but he's not quite ready to walk for extended periods of time (a long day at the zoo or something). He can either stand on the back or sit on a little seat in the back, and we can use the new baby's car seat in the front right away. I guess this is technically a double stroller, but it's not nearly as gigantic as a lot of the other doubles we looked at.
I second tchouquet wholeheartedly!!! We have the Revelo Buggypod to attach to our stroller, and it's awesome!!! The problem with boards and bench seats is that they get in your way, and the kid can't really rest if they're tired. Our now 3 year-old can rest her head in her buggypod, and it folds up without having to detach it from the stroller when she is walking. Here is a link to the company http://www.buggypod.com/. We got ours on UK Ebay.
FYI (re; jackied302's comment), as anning noted, the Joovy can be used with most infant carrier-type car seats; see the third pic in on the amazon site for an example.
I am interested to know people's experiences with these kinds of things, as we have an almost 3-year old and are expecting another. We walk about a mile to day care on a daily basis so we need something that will hold up to lots of use. I don't think my daughter will be ready to walk that far by herself (. . . nor am I ready to add the additional 30 minutes to our morning that it would take at her pace, even if she could!).
amy_f: i have the 2010 joovy ultralight caboose and i LOVE it. its held up well in the few months that weve owned it.. ive got a very rambunctious 3 year old. it does come with a carseat attatchment, and, a very big plus, it has a tall handle bar. :)
The people who make the Kidsit previously made the Twoo seat for the old style Bugaboo board, which unfortunately doesn't fit any other brand of stroller, but if you have a Cameleon, Frog or Gecko works the same. (http://www.kid-sit.co.uk/products_twoo.php) . We have this for our Cameleon, the Bugaboo board is very long, you have to walk beside it. Which is OK because the handling on it is great one handed but wouldn't work with some others. Although my 2 year old can steer using the seat frame when he puts his mind to it with this on.
The advantage of the kidsit over something like a Joovy Caboose or P&T is that you can keep using your stroller without buying a purposeful double which you may not get a lot of use out of. And also neither of those prams allow for the younger child to be reclined.
There is also the buggy pod which is a rather off looking option: http://www.buggypod.com/
We have two children only 15 months apart and we love our Babyjogger city select. It's a double stroller but it's amazing. The huge range of set-ups available and how small it folds have thrilled me.
If anyone is interested, the makers of the Kid Sit deliver to the US. I just bought it directly on their website and received it at my house just fine. My daughter loved the "big kid seat" :-) This is their website: http://www.kleinedreumes.nl/
