Kim of the wonderful Desire to Inspire recently had an "I can't take it anymore" moment with her bathroom. Fed up with the cheap faucet, the "nasty wood" and the outdated light fixtures, Kim created a temporary new space until she can gut the whole place. I hope you are excited to see this transformation because I literally had to flip between the before and after pictures a few times just to be sure it was the same bathroom!

With some new paint, updated (and inexpensive) fixtures, the brilliant addition of the chair rail and peel and stick tiles as well as the smart use of accessories from around her house, Kim definitely transformed this bathroom into a show stopper. If this is only her "temporary" solution, I can't wait to see the permanent one!

White Enamel Flatwa...
fantastic job!!!!! is this paint on the floor tiles going to last?! cause if it does, i might do it too!!
Wow, looks amazing.
wow! is this only "temporary" because of the lino sticker flooring (i am guessing it will eventually come off)?? otherwise it looks pretty amazing to me and i have a hard time imagining what would need to be changed!
i believe she used peel-and-stick tiles, not paint on her floors. :)
but it's so much better. i don't know if it's 100% my taste, but it's bold and daring, so i like it!

This is great! And really has me wanting to paint my bathroom!
I love the curtain that is used in place of doors under the sink. Cute!
Way to DIY! Don't you love moments of inspiration when you just HAVE to change it? Good job.
Never fails to amaze me how clever and creative people can be and Kim has certainly demonstrated that in spades here !! well done!!
Holy crap! When can I move in?!
Awesome! I actually am inspired to get to work on some projects I've been procrastinating on!
Utterly amazing! As someone who has been going through the bathroom remodel from hell, I'm even a little bit jealous.
Why gut it anymore? Just leave it the way it is, it's fun.
I would be quite pleased to do my business there.
wow wow wow
My first reaction was an out loud 'WHAT??'
That's an incredible transformation.
jacksonlalonde - HAHAHAHAAH!!!
This is INSANE. One of the best transformations I've ever seen. Dramatic but still airy. Love it.
How gratifying is this? I hope your half as excited about it as we all are.
Well done!
Amazing! Love the dark flooring and walls!!! The accessories are perfect. I have that shower curtain - it's super chic and still lets in a ton of light (it looks like you have a window in your shower like I do)!
Much love for this bathroom makeover! Fun, posh, mod... great execution and styling! Best wishes on keeping that black black floor clean! :)

Wow! Can you come and temporarily update my bathroom??
Whoa! That's fantastic.
Brilliant!
Is that wicker table supposed to be like that, or is it a hamper turned upside down? Because if it's turned upside down then that is very smart...looks great!
Thanks Jess for posting my bathroom!!
And thanks everyone! Trust me, this bathroom needs gutting. The sink and cabinet are HORRID and need replacing, the tub is rusting and doesn't drain properly so it needs replacing, the toilet doesn't flush properly, the floor in the bathroom is several inches higher than the rest of the floor upstairs (no idea why)....it's BAD. Trust me. I just hid alot of the nasty. The black floor, as I figured, is turning out to be not such a good idea in a house with 7 (soon to be 9) cats. I need to sweep every 5 mins to keep it clean.
The wicker table was bought at a thrift shop - I think it's supposed to be a garbage can. :) And yes, I have a window in the shower. Another complete annoyance that I need to deal with when I do a proper reno.
Wow this is an amazing transformation! Gives me lots of encouragement for new projects.
i actually liked the wood white combo of your original bathroom, but i'll have to trust you when you say it was all in bad shape :) my bathroom still has mold on the caulking, hoping to get THAT DIY done this weekend! But I won't hope for as dramatic a makeover. Are your lino floor tiles ok with water? i have terrible condensation from my toilet tank which sometimes drips on the floor, but would LOVE to cover my 1950s mosaic tiles (all cracked and grout is a gross grey).
I don't have leaking water issues in my bathroom so I'm not sure how they'd hold up. If you made sure they were all tightly fit together it may be ok. (Although covering mosaic tile is practically a sin).
How did you cut the floor tiles so it would go around the base of the toilet?
I made my fiancé do the around-the-toilet cuts because I knew I'd make a mess. It was pretty tough to do (using sharp scissors) - hence why you'll never see closeups of that area. :) (Caulking helped disguise some of the "off" cuts)
I liked the first shower curtain -- a lot! Nice job overall though!
Just darling! Not sure I understand the two shadowboxed art work pieces being hung below the chair-rail, though...unless they were done just for the photo to make the yellow chair pop?
Those 2 prints were hung there so you have something pretty to stare at while sitting on the can. :) (I like hanging art in unexpected places).
wow, that's amazing! although, it makes me sad because I have that same shower curtain that I bought as a "temporary" fix for my bathroom last spring cure. haha. I rent though and can't really do anything like change the flooring in my teeny bathroom.
I mean the tree curtain in your "before" photos, btw. :)
I love the transformation - very well done! I'm curious where you got the tree shower curtain from before as it would be great in my bathroom.
