January Cure was low-key in my Baltimore home… until Sunday night. A few projects led up to a small Super Bowl gathering and, with the game's outcome, the night culminated with a romp through the city's boisterous streets.
Day 19: Catch Up & Take a Photo. My project was reinstalling the curtains in my bedroom. The left portion of the photo above shows my side of the bed in the summer of 2011, and the right half shows it last week. Now I need to tweak the curtains themselves, probably removing fabric so they're less cramped and maybe adding some trim.
Day 20: Hang Your Artwork. I hung a thrifted Matisse print ($3!), and it adds some needed color to the second-floor hallway (above). Finding a runner rug is also on my to-do list, and the chair is there temporarily since I moved it from my sitting room in Week Two. I also think I've found a print to take over for the placeholder art in one of the big frames in my dining room.
Day 21: Speedy Spruce Up & Surface Clean. Last week I put off the filing cabinet overhaul, and I finally tackled it this week. The top drawer had filled up with a lot of unrelated stuff, which I threw out, donated or moved elsewhere (see the pile above). What went back in the drawer was a card organizer, office-type supplies, and some printer paper. Day 22: Shop for the Get-Together Goodies I was a sick slug this day (and for several to follow) and did little more than relocate from my bed to the couch. The shopping happened around 9 on Sunday morning, when Safeway was already pumping sports-themed music. (I'll just say one of the songs, "Final Countdown," makes me think of Gob Bluth, not Flacco or Kaepernick.)
Day 23: Weekend Chores: Pat Yourself on the Back, Relax and Celebrate! My husband and I don't have people over very often, and our Ravens dedication does not run as deep as it does for most of our neighbors. That said, it was fun to host a small gathering on a night that ended so well for our city. (Above are some outtakes from the victory celebration in my part of town.) I happened to have a purple table runner to put on the coffee table. I also kept up the buying-myself-flowers task with some mauve tulips. I made vegetarian chili, some guacamole, and my go-to box brownies (here's this baker's toast to Ghirardelli double chocolate mix).
