This is our Kid Corral, an outdoor children's space for all of Apartment Therapy's inner City Slickers! We have always lived in cities, but eighteen months ago, my husband's job landed us in the middle of nowhere. There are not any good parks around here, so after our barn burned (another story...) we transformed the burn area into a play area for the kids (now ages 8, 6, and 3).
The great thing about the structure's design is that the "bones" can become a more contemporary play area if that is what one desires. (The design is based on a playhouse design that my husband's grandfather used in the 40s). We used what we had....old barn wood, etc. that was lying around the property. Thus, our rustic "western" look. This year, we plan on adding on to the Kid Corral. There are whisperings about a zip line coming soon!

Thanks, Kim!

Wow. That's pretty spectacular. Any plans to add a lookout tower? It would be fantastic for your kids to be able to watch the stars at night from a higher perspective.
I love this!!! Nice work!
Love it. They must have so much fun playing in the corral :-)
I love this. If I had had this as a kid, I would have refused to leave! Great work.
I'm in Four Corners, close to Bozeman, and I'm totally thrilled to see Montana represented on AT! Love your kid corral, too. My kids would love something like this.
Grew up in Great Falls and spent many a Sunday in Glasgow! Looks like a wonderful place to play.
Thanks, Apartment Therapy, for posting our Kid Corral. We adore your website and feel honored to be mentioned!
Super cool.
Pi, the kids can climb on top of the playhouse. So it essentially has a lookout tower effect. There is even built in seating. The photos don't show it well, but the additional photos on my blog give a better view. Great for viewing the stars in Big Sky country! :-)
That is so damn cool. Lucky kids!!!
