Kips Bay Show Home: The Top Floor

Decorator Showcase - A Look at the Fifth Floor

Over the last couple of weeks we have explored the first four floors of the 2013 Kips Bay Decorator Showcase. Each room of each floor gives a different designer a chance to show off their unique take on styling a room of this grand home in the Upper East Side of New York City. At last we come to the top floor, where we get a peek into two very different design sensibilities.

In one of the fifth floor rooms (Images 3 - 5), Garcia Maldonado delivers a feeling of soft comfort with a nod towards sensuality through the use of artwork, a curvaceous chandelier, and warm colors.

In the bathroom (Images 1 &2), dark colors in shiny textures are nearly impossible for visitors to not reach out and touch.

Meanwhile, in the "Family Lounge" (Images 5 - 9), Eve Robinson Associates, Inc. made use of the high ceilings and access to a peaceful deck overlooking the quiet street. In a room where a family could relax in comfortable, livable style, quirky details were added to bring a bit of humor to the seriously stylish decor. Near the scrabble board with key words spelled out sat a bowl of marshmallows with text of their own printed on the classic snack.
