Kirsty & Phil Location: Green Bay, Wisconsin I guess I'd categorize our home as a colorfully kid-friendly home, with an eclectic vintage feel. We've lived here for 4 years now and have grown as a family here too (from 1 to 3 little boys!). My decor influence comes from my childhood, specifically my best friend's home. Her mother and grandmother had the most extravagantly decorated homes, filled with rich texture and color. Mini museums of stunning antique pieces. They were never shy about their style. I believe my love for velvet settees and tufted couches began there. We grew up in South Africa and the colorful flea markets there hold some of my best memories and are the other biggest influence of my style today. Many of the trinkets and the furniture in our home are flea market, garage sale or thrift finds. My boys keep things from becoming too serious, even in our decor. They're always taping their art to the walls or banging around on little drum sets. Needless to say, things often look a little topsy turvy, so we just work with it! The kitchen already had beautiful cabinetry, which I took full advantage of in displaying my collection of dishes. The boys' rooms are also filled with heirlooms — a vintage quilt in the nursery (featured on Ohdeedoh) with a "world" influence in the big boy room (safari bed tent, flags from several countries). My challenge has been displaying the things I love so much in a boy-filled home! I've tried to balance the masculine and feminine as best as I can, but my bathroom, it's all me (all my necklaces hang from the towel rod)!
