Name: Kirsty & Phil
Location: Green Bay, Wisconsin
I guess I'd categorize our home as a colorfully kid-friendly home, with an eclectic vintage feel. We've lived here for 4 years now and have grown as a family here too (from 1 to 3 little boys!).
My decor influence comes from my childhood, specifically my best friend's home. Her mother and grandmother had the most extravagantly decorated homes, filled with rich texture and color. Mini museums of stunning antique pieces. They were never shy about their style. I believe my love for velvet settees and tufted couches began there. We grew up in South Africa and the colorful flea markets there hold some of my best memories and are the other biggest influence of my style today. Many of the trinkets and the furniture in our home are flea market, garage sale or thrift finds.
My boys keep things from becoming too serious, even in our decor. They're always taping their art to the walls or banging around on little drum sets. Needless to say, things often look a little topsy turvy, so we just work with it!
The kitchen already had beautiful cabinetry, which I took full advantage of in displaying my collection of dishes. The boys' rooms are also filled with heirlooms — a vintage quilt in the nursery (featured on Ohdeedoh) with a "world" influence in the big boy room (safari bed tent, flags from several countries).
My challenge has been displaying the things I love so much in a boy-filled home! I've tried to balance the masculine and feminine as best as I can, but my bathroom, it's all me (all my necklaces hang from the towel rod)!
Thanks Kirsty!

Shaw's Original Fir...
LOVE IT! LOVE THAT ITS IN WISCONSIN...feels so homey
It looks so cozy! :)
I love the photos in the frame over the fireplace. I may have to do that in my home!
How exactly did you do it?
Love the kitchen cabinets!
Not too crazy about the textiles in the bedroom (including the ones on the wall), but I love the kitchen cabinets and the living room with the fireplace! I like the idea of the living area in the last photo, but it doesn't seem to mesh well with the other spaces in the house.
I <3 that tufted couch- love the whole place.
I really like the photo collage above the fireplace, that is a great idea! Is there a close up pic of it on your blog?
Love the pictures in the frame above the fireplace. Such a great way to display the kiddo's photos without letting them take over the entire house!
Being from Green Bay myself, I'm so happy to see a home that isn't decorated with 'country' crap from a craft show, or absolutely inundated with Packers gear (not that I don't love them, but designwise...not so much). The couch is absolutely gorgeous, and I love the scarves in lieu of a headboard. Now I'm curious to know what side of town this is on!
House tour please!
This house is amazing from the minute you walk in. Her style is impeccable, ecclectic, colorful, artistic, yet elegant. An international experience!
Thanks everyone!
We're working on a house tour, so I'll make sure I have a close up of the photo collage. It's a simple bulletin board covered in a muslin fabric. I printed the pictures through walgreens.com and they gave the option of adding a white border. Easy as that. The frame is an open back from Hobby Lobby.
And fellow Green Bay friend, we're on the east side - Schmitt Park.
Loveliesinmylife.com for more. :)
I like the creative touches, like the scarves-as-headboard, and the photo montage hanging over the fireplace rather than on the fridge (so much classier!) The lounge room with the persian rug... erm, no - too confused. But the kitchen is wonderful.
I wonder if Kirsty and Phil have heard of the OTHER, more famous Kirstie and Phil?*
*please google if ignorant
That hearth looks like a toddler accident waiting to happen... gorgeous... but pointy... and the cap sticks past the wall?
It is funny how you can spot the touch of a fellow South African, there is just 'something' about it that drew me from the start.
it's alright...i can argue either way.
