Inspired by San Franciso's Universal Café and its "elegant austerity," Sergio and Suzanne Feld set out to renovate their cramped and dark kitchen in their 1905 flat. Suzanne contacted Larissa Sands of Sands Architects (the team behind the café's design) for help. The result of their design is a wonderfully modern, clean and industrial kitchen.
While this remodel is from a 2004 issue of Dwell Magazine, the resulting space is still inspiring and current today. The new kitchen is a mix of industrial fixtures (laboratory faucets, lab glass pendant lamps, stainless steel appliances and those stunning rolling steel-framed panels of textured glass acting as cabinet doors) and warmer elements (fir floors, a fire clay farm sink, marble counter tops and walnut shelving).
