Although the Spring Cure came to a close last week we came across one made over space that just couldn't wait until the Fall to share. Kitchen spices have never looked so good with this fun chalkboard frame treatment!
Flickr member NEGS26 has come up with a glamorous way to keep her spices out on display. We've seen chalkboard walls popping up all over the place and although they look great, unless you're drawing up a monthly calendar on them, they don't have much practical use besides keeping the kids occupied while you make dinner.
This trick makes the spices look great and adds a touch of sophistication to an area that is a kitchen essential. The frame can change sizes and colors as the owner sees fit and we think it's a great use for everyone's new favorite wall treatment.

What a bright idea!
I like this, up until I look at the spices and think, it looks like the spice aisle at the grocery. it is so worth going to the trouble of putting the spices in new containers. the chalk framing looks cool, the commercial spice jars look cheap.
Inspired!
brilliant... and i like the color and size variation of the labels/bottles... much more interesting this way
I love it! makes me wish I had chalkboard wall. I don't mind the fact that the spices are not in new containers. It's completely nonchalant. Very chic yet feels like home.
this is totally cute
What a great idea! I'd be a little worried to do this myself, living in earthquake territory, but it's super cute and fun.
To the people who insist that all spices be re-packaged... um... not very green perhaps? They do come in jars perfectly adequate for the task of storing. Why go out and spend more money just to have a matching set?
cute...but i want to straighten out that photo!
I buy my spices in bulk, and by having nice spice jars I can reuse, I'm actually using less packaging. I'm totally cool with the mismatched containers here though. What a fun idea, but I've got way too many spices for this.
i love this! where did you get those little shelves?
aw, cute!
Great inspiration! I've been trying to think of a fun and inexpensive way to frame a canvas painting of mine.
This is sooo cute!! The chalk dust would annoy me but I love the idea of kids drawing on a chalkboard wall off to the side in the kitchen.
Are those IKEA Ribba picture ledges? I never would have thought of using them as a spice rack. Brilliant!
Amusing -- and NOT having fancy containers is what makes it work.
