I had always dreamt of a great spacious kitchen with an island in the center, vintage details, and room for family and friends to gather. But what my boyfriend and I got when we moved into our Silver Lake apartment was an 81 square foot kitchen that was initially dingy, awkward, and challenging.

Fortunately, we did get the vintage details, so we got to work creating a colorful, functional space.
